I just realized that wizardry is a very sensational topic & a "bestseller" quality. A month ago, the whole Metro Manila was struck with the "Harry Potter Mania". It was the headline in all Life and Leisure Pages of every newspaper and even in all the television shows. Imagine the reading patience of a six-year old and hear him say, "I cannot put the book down. I cannot sleep. I just have to know what Harry, Ron, and Hermione did. I have to know the lessons they have in Hogwarts School of Wizardry, etc. etc. etc.". You have to know that it is a 300-page book.
Well, you would not really know unless you get a copy of the book and start to read it! Right? So the moment National Bookstore called me up (I was on their reservation list for the hardbound), I forgot my overtime work. I went directly to National Bookstore in Alabang and bought all the 4 books (Book 1 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Book 2 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Book 3 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Book 4 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). Now, I am on the 4th book, and believe me, you would not put the book down too (not that I have to because I have to sleep, you know, and I have to work too).
Basically, it is a children's book but it still embodies what you expect in a good book, a story with plot, the characters with different personalities, something that will boggle your mind, tick your brain and really think. Most of all, the thought of being a wizard is quite a real fun. It may not be true but hey, who would say "no" to a day of magic, potions and spells. I do not know with you but I would definitely extend it to more than a day... |
