A SHOWCASE OF TALENT THROUGH AN INFORMATIVE SHOW
By Janry A. Jontilano, Philippines
Youth Activity, Pagtatap Youth Camp, Malumpati Cold Spring, Pandan, Antique, Philippines After our dinner, many of the members were busy roaming around to gather materials for the show and they seemed to be memorizing something. It was because everybody was excited and getting ready for the cultural presentation.

At the given time, the participants gathered in the session hall carrying bundles of blankets, pieces of twigs, and vines. Some of them were in their unique costumes and were wearing light make-up. There were 2 petromax to illuminate the place because there was no electricity. We creatively managed to decorate the stage with vines and twigs that we gathered from around us.

Group 2, headed by Gilly and Allen, was the first to perform. Their play was about pollution caused by the abuse and ignorance of man towards nature. They portrayed the death of an asthmatic man due of air pollution, but the people ignored him, believing that he would just decay as a biodegradable waste. Then a lady in garbage attire came to bring everything to deliverance. She was desperate to change things around. She finally reached her goal of changing the people’s thinking and she was able to put everything back to normal.

Next, our camp director, Mr. Carillo, presented an acoustic song number about Genesis. He had a good voice and we applauded him for his great performance.

Group Presentation, Pagtatap Youth Camp, Malumpati Cold Spring, Pandan, Antique, Philippines Then Group 1 had its turn. Mimi and I headed the group. Our play was set in paradise. We showed the “before” paradise full of Mother Nature’s bounty, and the “after” paradise that showed the use, abuse, and damages wrought my man. Rosvil played Mother Nature. During the time that paradise was lost in ruins, Mother Nature died and there was no more happiness until good-hearted men rendered service to renew and change the world. These rescuers were the young generation - the PAGTATAP Youth.

The show ended with folk dancing, folk singing, fishermen fishing, farmers planting, harvesting, and happy living.

Everybody put in a good performance. Each of us gave our best for the success of our group presentations. We were resourceful, creative, and flexible. Congratulations to the PAGTATAP Youth for a job well done! You showed your talents, and you proved to be A GIFT TO OUR COMMUNITY.
